One of the most important components of the diet is sunflower-based high-protein concentrate, which provides birds with the necessary nutrients for health, growth and development. The company “Schothorst Feed Research” (Lelystad, the Netherlands) conducted a study of sunflower concentrate used as a substitute for soybean meal to determine its effect on the condition of broilers. 1008 heads of Ross 308 broilers were involved in the experiment.
The results of the study showed that broilers fed a starter diet in which soybean meal was replaced with sunflower concentrate had significantly higher weights on day 14 and 28.
The conclusion is that soybean meal can be completely replaced by sunflower concentrate, and it should be introduced starting from the pre-starter diet for the formation of a normal digestive system in broiler chickens.
